Environment Prop Details
SuperKlutz has a lot of props that he must interact with or avoid, the world is full of small detail as you run through it. This week I word on adding in the final models for the project. Many props were designed to have a simple base color in order for it to compliment the shaders. The shaders help tie in the comic art style with its bold outline on our models.
The models went through a simple process where they were modeled, and UV'ed in Maya, and Textured in Substance Painter.
Though the models were textured to have only base color, details were still added so that it could still have character. To achieve this, instead of drawing directly onto model on Substance Painter, the UV's were exported as a PNG and then imported onto a art application. Any art application can be used, for this instance an application called Paint Tool Sai 2 was used. Using the UV's, images and other small details were drawn onto it then were exported back to a png. From there the new UV image was imported into Substance Painter again, were it was set to a texture then applied as a base color.
Other details that were applied were set to planes for walls and buildings to give the environment more of a city setting.
Graffiti was made and added representing characters from the game. They were made into planes so that they could be added in any area of the levels.
Thank you for your time, until next time.
